Payroll Assistant

OCB (Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston) is a physician group practice that specializes in eye care. OCB has approximately 450 staff members, based in 9 practice locations in Massachusetts. OCB also has four affiliated surgery centers.

We have an opening for a Payroll Assistant to assist our Payroll Coordinator in our Boston corporate headquarters.

The Payroll Assistant will perform all payroll related functions for OCB and its affiliated Surgery Centers, striving to improve and streamline the payroll process wherever possible.  Assist Human Resources with all aspects of employee record keeping including status, benefit eligibility, vacation accrual balances and utilization of unscheduled time.  Assist with various accounting functions including Accounts Payable support, travel expense reports processing and general journal entries.

Performance Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Excel. 
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to identify and compute ratios and percentages and to accurately input numerical data into spreadsheets or other tools. 
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting. 
  • General knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
  • Ability to create and maintain an organized work environment, effective working relationships, strictest confidentiality, and to communicate clearly.  

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in Payroll or Accounting.
  • Experience with ADP considered a plus.
